fine. a word that was never as believable as anyone
wanted it to be, including her, he was sure. not that
it stopped him from giving a nod of his head, taking
what she said without the uttering a single question.
excusing himself was fr esh on his mind as his boots
were firmly planted on the carpet of the library. she
should have been like the other girls he met through
his time within the halls of the university.❛ good. ❜
a single word, no louder than a mere whisper. her
name was one that had never graced his ears
before, the look that came across his face certainly
making that clear. not with a hint of dislike, however.❛ unique name. i like it. ❜
words that were true, oddly fitting, a name, that for
all he knew, didn’t understand how a name fit, but
that’d be something to worry about while avoiding
the paper he desperately needed to write for class.
there was an understanding, still did not mean he
he had the desire to see her go. a girl he’d of never
met had it not been for the split second turn down
the aisle he rarely, if ever, found himself in.❛ right, uh, i’ll see you around. ❜
eyes lingered for just a few moments before he
turned around, taking a few steps in the direction
in which he came. at least before stopping and
turning back to look at her. he only lived once.❛ would you like to get some coffee
sometime. maybe after your class
and i get some work done on this? ❜

❝ thank you. ❞
crimson rushed to warm porcelain cheeks, blunt
teeth grazing the soft flesh of bottom lip, wings
seeming to flutter in her abdomen whilst his line
of sight loitered for a moment too long. what was
this feeling ? was this normal ? it was not the turmoil
of a swirling storm attempting to carry her away - this
was different. but her wonderment was brief as gloved
hands could not contain the ice beginning to creep
across the binding of her required literature. PANIC -
that was familiar, the demon to bestow recurring
torment upon her.
FLEE. it was instinct now. run & never look back.
to be withdrawn, to remain isolated was the only
way to keep everyone safe. she had to retreat, to
find false solace in the desolate classroom she was
dreading a moment ago. ballet flats soundlessly
began to carry her down the aisle to the sanctuary
across the common.
R U ——-
his voice flooding her senses thwarted her impending
escape, presenting him with a carefully rehearsed mask
- appearing tranquil ; NORMAL. coffee ? he wanted to
spend more time with her ? did he not know the danger
he was in ?
❝ alright … um … ❞
there was a pause as she located a pen to scribble her
telephone number onto a pristine sheet of paper, tearing
it perfectly to offer to him, line of sight continually flicking
to the ice that had receded with little effort.
—— a peculiar occurrence.
❝ there’s that. text me & i’ll let you know a place & time.
i do really have to go though. ❞
before he could refute her exit, the heiress rounded the
corner, walking to the double doors to cross the threshold
& break into a sprint.
