[ he had fought. oh god, he fought. he fought
until his fingers had been calloused and scarred
from needles’ sharpened tips, wrists had bloodied
with constant toiling, mercury had dyed his hands
silver. he f o u g h t. he thought he had been fighting
for grace, but he had been fighting for her, too. all of
those hours of isolation and captivity, of never seeing
the morning’s light or dusk’s darkness… it was to return
home. he would have saved her then, not left her to peril
in her own trap, but fate reminded him. fate had never been

when she had trusted him, allowed him to lead her from
Arendelle, it had betrayed each cell in her body. perhaps
she should have listened to the reasoning of her brain
rather than the ramblings of her heart. she was no foolish
girl. she was never as naive nor thoughtlessly courageous.
but love & all of its mysterious whimsy lead to believe that
this man had her best interests in mind.
it was a folly not to be repeated. one that had prompted
doors to slam shut & walls to erupt to conceal her from
his influence - to protect the instability of her being. still,
her gaze remained steady, azure optics drinking in the
minuscule idiosyncrasies of his expressions - the jovial
nature of her memories had been replaced by the
distress of reality.
